Poster formatting guidelines

Poster presenters will have received an email with instructions – if not, the same information is repeated here.

Poster sessions take place after either a lunch or coffee break; if you wish to do so, you can present your poster during these breaks as well. On the day of your presentation, we’d like to ask you to set up your poster by 11am and to remove it by 6:30pm. Upon registration you will receive a conference leaflet indicating which poster board to use, but each poster session will have a chair who can be contacted for further assistance.

Recommended poster size is A0 portrait.

In order to further improve the poster experience, we would like to ask you to reserve an area of approximately 15 x 15 cm (6 x 6 in) in the top right corner of your poster. We would like you to populate this area with symbols that can be used (in addition to the title and abstract) by delegates to quickly identify the topic area of the poster, and decide which presentations to prioritise in a given session. See below for a collection of keywords, together with their corresponding symbol. Please use about three symbols of your choice.

Printing: We recommend you to take your printed poster along, but in case you need to print in Cologne, these are a few printing services:

Presentation guidelines

Oral presentations will be grouped in seven thematic sessions of 1 1/2 hours, with three talks each. Please aim for 20 minute-long presentations. Your slides should be uploaded and tested on the conference computer in the first 15 minutes of the coffee or lunch break immediately preceding your presentation. In that occasion, you will also have the chance to meet or introduce yourself to the session chair. Please provide your slides on a usb stick, in either .pptx or .pdf format, embedding fonts and sound- and video-files if necessary. A remote control with laser pointer will be provided.
